Morty Research Group

Dr Rory E. Morty holds the rank of Associate Professor (W2), and is jointly-appointed at the Department of Internal Medicine (Pulmonology) at the University Hospital Giessen, and at the Department of Lung Development and Remodelling at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim. Dr Morty maintains research laboratories at both institutions. Additionally, Dr Morty serves as Programme Director of the International Graduate Programme Molecular Biology and Medicine of the Lung at the University of Giessen and as Coordinator of the University of Giessen and Marburg Lung School.

Dr Morty was born in Durban, South Africa, and completed his undergraduate and post-graduate education in South Africa. This was followed by a four-year post-doctoral stay at Yale University School of Medicine, in the Section of Microbial Pathogenesis of the Department of Cell Biology. Dr Morty joined the Faculty of the University of Giessen in 2002.
